Rolfing® Structural Integration

WHAT
ROLFING IS AND WHY IT WORKS
The Rolf Method of Structural Integration is hands-on bodywork that addresses chronic pain and creates ease via your fascia. And you can do it right here in Vancouver.
Your fascia is the incredible network of tissue that gives your body its shape. When fascia is healthy, it glides. It breathes. It literally dances. When fascia is strained, it adheres.
Over a series of 10 sessions, called the Ten Series, I address adhesions in your fascia throughout your entire body. The result is a feeling of groundedness, spaciousness, and vitality that lasts. I want you to find relief from pain. I want you to find balance. I want you to find ease. I want you to find joy. My goal is not perfection, but to bring your structure to your next level of integration.
What puts strain on your fascia, you ask? Fascia is strained by repeated movements (hello desk jobs, hello treadmills), traumatic events both big and small (hello rough childhood, hello that time you were 'fine' after a car accident, and also that time you weren't), and just plain 21st century life (hello cell phones, hello video games, hellooooooo social media). If this is you, Rolfing can help.

My studio is warm, welcoming, and cozy, providing a comfortable space for you to relax and reconnect with your body. I’m lucky to have my studio in Mount Pleasant, one of Vancouver’s most vibrant and walkable neighbourhoods.
After your session, you can step outside, take a deep breath, and enjoy the fresh air while exploring the tree-lined streets, cozy cafés, and local parks. WHY I BECAME A CERTIFIED ROLFER IN VANCOUVER, BC

In addition to being a Certified Rolfer, I am also a spoken voice coach, and actor. I am fascinated with our capacity for expression as humans being. For me, Rolfing is a uniquely effective way to encourage a feeling of wholeness in the body — such an important precursor to feeling free to express.
My sense is that Rolfing works not only because it is holistic, but because you and I work together. This means you are in the driver’s seat of your own well-being. This co-operation creates a sense of agency, empowerment, and safety. Throughout our process, we look to activate the resources you already have within you. We uncover a deeper sense of stability. We investigate the possibilities of movement. We engage your senses. We educate. We learn from each other. And we have fun! I have not encountered any other body work that is as effective in the long term and as humane in its philosophy as Rolfing® Structural Integration.

you touch everything."

WHO ROLFING
COMES FROM

What we now call myofascial release, Dr. Ida P. Rolf coined Structural Integration -- more than 75 years ago.
A biochemist, Dr. Rolf made it her life's work to uncover ways to free our bodies from pain, injury, and imbalance at the source: our network of fascia. For literally hundreds of years, fascia had been largely discarded as merely packing tissue. Dr. Rolf understood that nothing in our body is without purpose. She realized that our network of fascia is in fact what gives our us our form. Too much tension stuck in one place is bound to affect the entire structure. By addressing fascia, Dr. Rolf succeeded in restoring range of motion, reducing pain, and retrieving balance in relation to gravity for so many hundreds of humans.
After decades of research and practice, Dr. Rolf gave us the Rolfing Ten Series. The thoroughness of her process is why Rolfing Structural Integration can create lasting change in humans being.
“Over and over again, people come to me, and they tell me, "You just don’t know how strong I am." They say 'strength' and I want to hear 'balance.' The strength idea has effort in it; this is not what I’m looking for. Strength that has effort in it is not what you need; you need the strength that is the result of ease.”

I am privileged to practice and live on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. I understand that before there is reconciliation, there must be truth. I am committed to listening and holding space until truth is acknowledged and actual reconciliation can begin.
