ROLFING FAQ

Yes, it's a weird name but my goodness the results can be amazing -- and long lasting. Here's what you need to know about Rolfing® Structural Integration

Should I commit to all 10 sessions of Rolfing?

The Rolfing® 10-Series is a structured approach that systematically realigns the body over ten sessions. Each session builds on the previous one, working through different layers of fascia to create lasting changes in posture, mobility, and overall well-being. If you’re looking for Rolfing® in Vancouver, BC, the 10-Series provides a deep and progressive approach to body realignment. Here’s a glimpse of what the 10-Series covers:  Sessions 1-3 – Focus on breathing, balance, and superficial fascia to create a strong foundation. Sessions 4-7 – Work on deeper structures, improving core alignment and movement patterns.  Sessions 8-10 – Integrate the changes, enhancing full-body coordination and long-term stability. You don’t have to commit to the full 10-Series—individual sessions are also available in Vancouver for pain relief, posture correction, and stress reduction.

What to Expect in a Rolfing® Session?

A typical Rolfing® session in Vancouver lasts 60–75 minutes and involves a combination of: - Hands-on manipulation – Gentle to deep pressure to release tension in the fascia and restore balance. - Movement education – Learn how to move more efficiently and effortlessly to prevent recurring tension. - Postural assessment – Identify where your body holds tension and how Rolfing® can help realign it.

What to Wear During a Rolfing Session?

Comfort is key during your Rolfing session! Since Rolfing involves hands-on bodywork and movement assessments, it’s best to wear form-fitting, flexible clothing that allows for ease of movement. ✔ For Women: A sports bra and fitted shorts, yoga wear, or a two-piece swimsuit. ✔ For Men: Fitted athletic shorts, boxer briefs, or compression shorts (a tank top is optional). As you all know, Vancouver’s weather can be unpredictable, so if it’s a chilly or rainy day, bring an extra layer to stay warm after your session—your body may feel more open and relaxed. Many clients also love taking a refreshing walk around Mount Pleasant after their session, so wearing something comfortable for a stroll is a great idea! The goal is for you to feel at ease and unrestricted. If you have any questions, feel free to ask before your session!

How is Rolfing different from massage therapy?

Rolfing focuses on long-term structural changes by working with the body's fascia, while massage therapy is often used for relaxation or temporary relief of muscle tension. Rolfing aims to improve posture, alignment, and movement patterns for lasting results.

Does Rolfing hurt?
